Hari Fafutis is the founder and coach of Tavros Fuerza y Acondiconamiento, the first gym that specializes in weight training in Mexico. Hari holds a Bachelor of science with a specialty degree in Industrial Engineering form the Universidad Panamericana in Mexico. Since very young, he started experimenting with different exercise modalities in order to improve his health and strength. In 2014 he found out about the Starting Strength methodology, started using it with his own training, and eventually expanded this project into teaching and coaching other people about the system. Four years later he earned his SS coach certification by the SSCA –thus becoming the first SS coach in Latin America– and left his previous job as an engineer/operations manager to start his own strength-coaching business.
Hari is also the translator of the recently published “blue book” in Spanish (Starting Strength: entrenamiento básico con halteras). Lately, he has been participating competitively in strength sports.
Hari owns a private training facility (tavrosfuerza) in Guadalajara, Mexico. The coaching sessions at Tavros are semi-private, that is, there's only 4-7 clients lifting while Hari or his associate coaches watch virtually all reps of all trainees. Programming is also taken care of by Hari and his coaching staff. For more info about the services/coaching packages Tavros offers, please contact Hari directly (hari.fafutis@tavrosfuerza.com).

Hari is a fantastic strength coach. He’s extremely knowledgeable in correct form, body mechanics, and strength programming—both from years of studying the science and from lots of time under the bar himself.
I had worked out for seven years on my own but always struggled with recurring wrist pain. Every few months, my wrist would start hurting during a gym session and the pain would last for weeks. Plus, I had hit a strength plateau that I hadn’t been able to break out of for years. I figured my body had probably reached its max strength potential, but decided to do a few sessions with Hari and see if things improved.
In my first lesson, he showed me some simple changes to my form that corrected the wrist pain, and after training for six months I broke through all my strength plateaus. I’ve been training for almost three years now and I’ve increased my combined max (squat/deadlift/bench/press) by over 350 lbs., and despite lifting heavier weights than ever before, the wrist pain has never returned.
For anyone looking to correct their form, increase strength, or just get great accountability and feedback, I’d recommend working with Hari.
Let’s kick this off with some context: I’ve paid for year-long gym subscriptions in the past. Not once, not twice, but many more than I am willing to disclose here and only attending for subscription and cancellation. I am pretty bad at attending gyms in general. Well, it’s been 9 months of paying and showing up with a decent frequency with Hari and doing my training, gaining strength and feeling better. The technique is undoubtfully working but Hari as a coach (and the Toro bros as well) is top-notch. I recommend it wether you’re an experienced gym-goer or just starting of, they will adapt to your needs and help you achieve your goals.
Hari is truly a world class coach. I weigh about 180 lbs and can now squat and deadlift over 400 lbs. This would not have been possible without his help. I tried doing strength training myself and would start having injuries around 240 lbs due to improper form. My body has completely transformed and I don’t have to be in the gym for 4-5 hrs per day 5 days per week. With his program, I come for 60-90 min 3-4 times per week. I know of nothing more effective and with such minimal time commitment. I refuse to work with another coach. On top of his knowledge and coaching abilities, he leads by example first. He demonstrates great commitment and dedication to his craft by doing first, setting a great example for others to follow. The physical strength and physique changes are honestly about half of what I’ve gained. The other half is improvement in mental strength, discipline and self-confidence that carries over into other areas of my life. I’m truly grateful I found Hari and Tavros Gym.
I’ve been working with Hari for more than 4 years and holding a friendship a little longer than that. The first time he told me about his new life project, becoming a Strength Coach, for me, it sounded like a dream or a passing goal, those ones that you’re really excited about but never become true.
Surprisingly, Hari did it a few years later, becoming the first Starting Strength Coach in Latin America, after that day everything changed in his and my life. He demonstrated his professionalism from the first day, he had a clear idea in his mind of what he wanted to create and where he wanted to be in the near future. That’s how Tavros Strength and Conditioning was created, the first strength gym, proudly Mexican. Since then, he’s been dedicated to improve people’s lives through proper strength training, improving their physical capabilities and changing their mindsets. He’s helped me in the same way, making the strongest version of me, physically and mentally, and in my process of becoming a strength coach too. Hari has been a great support, guiding me in all aspects; physically, academically, mentally and professionally, and more than that, he’s been a good friend and business partner.
In my opinion he’s the best strength coach in Mexico, even Latin America, helping scores of people in the process of getting stronger and improving their quality of life.
