    It was a pleasure to get an awesome form check session with Steve, and I learned a lot as someone who only read the SS book/watched online videos. Steve made it much easier to do the lifts, where he was able to correct my form and taught me the proper way to go about the sets. It was definitely worth the drive from Germany, and it’s amazing how there is a Starting Strength gym in Europe. I highly recommend all folks in the region to visit Brussels Barbell to train with Steve and the other coaches.

    I have been a member of Brussels Barbell for about 3 months. I truly love my workouts there. They have a wonderful, welcoming and friendly environment, that is not intimidating for beginners like myself. There are always instructors watching and supporting you. Its a great way to build strength in a safe, non-judgemental environment. I highly recommend!!

    Drove here to get in-person coaching with Steve. Totally worth it, and that should say it all, as my girlfriend and I came here all the way from Copenhagen.
    Steve is very amicable, greeted us and took the time for an informal chat and then proceeded to discuss what I’d outlined per email I’d like the Barbell Clinic session (as it’s called on the website) to get through. A little surprised but very satisfied, we made it through everything. Steve was very efficient and focused all the way through the session but kept it super relaxed and fun all the while. Quite a feat, also considering he was coaching both me and my partner.
    Only complaint is that Steve decided to set up shop in Brussels and not Copenhagen – it’ll be hard to drive here 3 times a week for my Novice Linear Program…
    Best weightlifting coaching I’ve ever received by far.

Each coach is very knowledgeable and dedicated to getting the best out of their clients. It also helps that the atmosphere is super, and the coffee tastes good too. 😊

    I was initiated to Brussels barbell as a team building outing with my rugby team and I was SOLD! The atmosphere, the owners, the coaches make it the perfect blend for an amazing place to train. 100% recommend to anyone who’s starting out or who’s an experienced weight lifter. There’s a place for everyone!

    PS: a cute little dog runs around the gym, which is just a bonus.

    Would recommend Brussels Barbell to everyone! What I like is the focus on proper technique & form. It’s a safe space for people who are starting out as you get 1 on 1 feedback. This is the first time I have been training this consistently and the progress is immense. On top of that, Steve and his team are really nice & I always have great time!

    Ich war in Brussels Barbell um am Training Camp Squat-Press-Deadlift teilzunehmen. Sehr freundliche Begrüßung und eine gute Atmosphäre machen den Start einfach. Steve ist präzise in seinen Coaching Tipps und jeder Lift (Aufwärmen und Arbeitssatz) wurde kommentiert. Für mich hat sich die Anreise aus Wien in jedem Fall gelohnt und ich kann diese Camps in Brussels Barbell jedem ernsthaft an Krafttraining interessierten nur empfehlen. Dabei ist es egal ob man Anfänger ist oder schon seit vielen Jahren Krafttraining betreibt. Ich komme sicher wieder !

    I traveled to Brussels for a few days during the week and wanted to makes sure I was able to get in my normal workout. I’m a Starting Strength disciple, and I was familiar with Brussels Barbell as a Starting Strength affiliate.

    When I walked through the door I felt immediately welcome. Steve, the owner set me up with a rack and let me know he and his coaches were available to answer any questions. He even offered me coffee and water.

    During the workout, I had a few coaches come over and give me some very valuable feedback. I’m an experienced lifter, but I love to get form checks and adjustments from experienced Coaches. I found the coaches to be very capable and knowledgeable.

    There was a great and supportive community in the Gym and Brussels Barbell truly embodies the culture I love about Starting Strength affiliate gyms. There was a range of ages and ability levels, but all were lifting and all were getting stronger.

    I will continue to train at Brussels Barbell for the duration of my stay in this wonderful city, and anytime I come back.

    TLDR: Great gym, good equipment, professional trainers, very good start into being active, would recommend!

    Longer version:
    I’ve been doing CrossFit for a couple of months and after some break I’ve decided to join the Brussels Barbell. It’s a great place to learn how to safely train weightlifting. Even though I had some background on how to do weightlifting I found out that I have much to learn.There are step by step instructions on how to do exercises with the explanations why the steps are necessary and how they help you lift better. Most importantly the training helps. You can actually feel the difference when training with correct technic or yolo. Everyone has their own station, so no fighting for equipment or waiting for others to finish their routine like in the conventional gyms. They also don’t require providing credit card informations, you just send a bank transfer which in this day and age seems much safer to me and I greatly appreciate that.
    In short, it’s a great place to workout!

    If you want to get in shape but you’re lacking the motivation or knowledge to do so, this is the place to go. The trainers always make sure you are in good form and equip you with the knowledge to push yourself to your limits in a safe and controlled environment.

    The atmosphere is great and it’s easy to make friends as classes are limited to 8 which further motivates you to keep a consistent schedule.

    Strength training is the need of the hour. And Brussels Barbell 🏋‍♂️ is the right place for it …….. Steve, Gaby, Roberto, Georgi, Zoey 🐶 everyone are there for your every question during your training. Your workouts are curated to best fit you. And they even remember your last lifted weight though you forget 😲. They coach you properly on your movements, stance, angles, balance, rest and everything associated. Working out the right way is very important and that’s ensured here.

    I have been training with the team for last 6 months and it’s worth every moment. Great environment, coffee, music, brand and community to be part of

    I really love Brussels Barbell. I have started around 5 months ago and, since then, I have seen sustained progress day by day with my strength. In addition to that, a lot of people around me have told me that I look way better and in shape. This is the first time in my life that I have actually been able to gain weight. To be precise, I have gained around 10 kg just eating normally and doing exercise at Brussels Barbell.

    The special thing about Brussels Barbell is the expertise that all the coaches have to ensure that we exercise appropriately, specially Steve. Steve and Gabi have been able to build a really exiting brand, but even more importantly , a very cozy community of people that exercise to become stronger. It’s like all of us share a common goal! Roberto, Giorgi and Francesco are perfect complements to the combo; each of them with their own style, you’re sure to always be supervised by a knowledgeable coach, but also very nice folks.

    Cherry in the cake is that you’re always greeted with a warm smile and with a coffee or tea, whichever you prefer.

    If I had to start again, I would. Can’t recommend Brussels Barbell enough. Just go andexperience it yourself! 🙌🏼

    Took a 3h ride to train and to learn how to do the big exercises properly and wasn’t disappointed. If you’re in Europe and familiar/self-taught in the starting strength method, get in touch with them and schedule at least one session. The coach, Steve actually taught me more than the book and videos could, just through a few refinements and tips, but going there was key. He made it really easy and took a lot of time and care.

    If you want to become strong and stay fit in the long term, Brussels Barbell is your place. Brussels Barbell has excellent personal trainers that provide very specific and actionable advice. After two months, you and people around you will start to see the difference. Plus, Steve and the team create a great, motivating atmosphere in which working out is fun.

    I love it there. I’ve been going for 5 months and I feel stronger every week, the coaches are not only knowledgeable and providing good feedback, they’re also super fun and supportive. The environment at the gym is also great, it’s super inclusive and welcoming, and caters to beginners and experienced lifters. Everyone attending a session is encouraging of everyone else. I was also super pleasantly surprised to see how many women are members there, it’s quite regular that there are more women than men in the group sessions and I love it.

    One of the easiest 5 star reviews I’ve ever given. When I decided to try out Brussels Barbell I’m not sure what I was expecting. Primarily I was just looking for a gym relatively close to my place that wasn’t basic fit or Jim’s since I could never motivate myself to go to either of those places on a regular basis. I’ve always been rather intimidated, if not a little scared of lifting weights but I figured I’d give it a try anyway. Steve and his team are not only highly competent and will get you stronger at a pace right for you, but also a fun group of people spend your morning/noon/afternoon with. Going Brussels Barbell to the gym is now easily one of the things I look forward to the most in my day. I’m now stronger than I have ever been and my back feels amazing even after a whole day of sitting in front of the computer. If you are even slightly curious about lifting, or finding a way to get stronger and gain more confidence I cannot recommend Brussels Barbell enough!

    The one and only #buildingstrength in Brussels and Belgium and the whole EU, if I’m correct! As a convinced non-cardio, more like a smoochie yoga person, I found my way there after having some back problems. Never imagined myself lifting more than a 5 kg potato bag, but now going almost for 6 months there for a twice a week training with Steve and its the best strengthbuilding decision I’ve ever made. Professional, friendly and a lot of fun! Also, the best coffee and the best supervision by the queen Zoë, who is greeting you at the arrival making you feel – missed you, so happy you came 😀

    This is a great gym with really competent staff. They make sure you progress and you have someone checking your form throughout your workout so you can safely lift weights and work on your strength. The gym is super clean and everyone is super friendly and kind. I love this place!

    I have tried several training facilities, but Brussels Barbell is far and away the best strength training facility I have ever set foot in, in Brussels or abroad. What really sets this place apart is the coaching – not only is Steve (head coach) completely dedicated to the craft and an absolute pro at what he does, but all the coaches in his team are committed to getting every trainee in here stronger by the day. You can trust when you walk in through the door that the Brussels Barbell team has your back so that you can focus on what truly matters (getting stronger!) instead of “working out” in a way that will waste your time and lead you astray. Steve and his team will have you TRAINING in the true sense of the word.

    I have only good things to say about Brussels Barbell, the most important being that they deliver on everything they say. Training with a barbell does bring results, their methods do work and anybody can do this. On top of this, Steve and the team have created an enjoyable environment.

    The introductory clinic is extremely helpful in laying the foundations for the progress you will make and the individual advice you get in every session builds on that as you add weight incrementally. That helps you track your progress but you’ll also see the benefits in daily life and in other forms of exercise. It’s not random, there is a purpose and there are results.

    We came back yesterday, because the first time (Sept 2022) was just excellent! Each time we traveled here from Vienna, Austria.
    Great coaching by Steve Ross again. Yesterday, a personal pair coaching. Last time it was a day-long seminar (Squat, Press, Deadlift). I recommend both, depending on how much time you have.
    We will be back in the fall, and we will keep coming back. It is not only a great coaching you get, you feel very welcome and at home there.

    In September 2022, I wrote this: My wife and I participated in a one-day squat press an deadlift seminar at Brussels Barbell with Steve Ross (Starting Strength Coach).
    It was excellent and fun. We learned and improved a lot and we had a ball doing so. Very nice and friendly gym.
    It is a one thousand kilometer travel for us, but we want to go there once a year to be checked, to improve and have a good time with good people.

    Unfortunately 5 stars is the maximum, otherwise I would give more! The 5+ hour drive from Fulda, Germany was more than worth it. From the moment I arrived to my form check, I felt welcomed by Steve and his talented staff and other members (and Zoe, his cute little dog). On the platform, Steve took the necessary time to explain everything in great detail and identified problems with my form – which he was able to help me correct immediately. As someone very familiar with the proven Starting Strength method of getting stronger, I am able to fully appreciate the amazing skill level of Steve. Fact is you won’t find a better strength coach anywhere in Europe! Highly recommended gym for strength enthusiasts of all ages! Thanks again to Steve and his team. See you again soon! -Gary

    Starting Strength is the best, proven method for young and old people to get strong by means of the main barbell exercises: squat, deadlift, press, bench press.     There’s no other place in Europe to train coached by Starting Strength Coaches. The standard of expertise and care here far surpasses any gym I have ever been to. The coaches go through rigorous testing before becoming official starting strength coaches and it shows in their ability to coach through each lift and cater to all kinds of lifters, young and old, new or experienced.
    I wish I had made the trip much sooner than I did. Anyone who is willing to put the time and effort into training weekly, needs to come down to Brussels Barbell,
    Steve Ross helped me get back on track and I can’t wait until my next visit!

    I am 3 years post-chemo and with an artificial knee, I truly never thought that I could get stronger, let alone train with barbells and heavy weights. Every part of my life is easier now that I have gotten considerably stronger. From golf with my friends to my daily walks, everything seems easier now!
