I started training at Starting Strength Houston in November of 2020. I’d watched my mom get weaker and weaker in the last years of her life and I decided I wasn’t going to let that happen to me.
The goal of SS is to get you stronger–it’s as simple as that. I regularly train with both men and women, from 20-somethings to senior citizens, and it’s one of my favorite things about training here. The reason it can work for such a wide variety of people is that the coaches here are just outstanding. Every single lift you do here will be under the watchful eye of someone who’s gone through a very rigorous qualification process.
I started here as a relatively fit 63 year old who nonetheless realized he was losing muscle mass, and I’ve turned that around. I’m stronger than I ever thought possible. Training here was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
